Assisted Living Eligibility
In her 1901 Message to The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy made this plea on behalf of the “aged reformers” in our Movement:
After a hard and successful career reformers usually are handsomely provided for. Has the thought come to Christian Scientists, Have we housed, fed, clothed, or visited a reformer for that purpose? Have we looked after or even known of his sore necessities? Gifts he needs not. God has provided the means for him while he was providing ways and means for others. But mortals in the advancing stages of their careers need the watchful and tender care of those who want to help them. The aged reformer should not be left to the mercy of those who are not glad to sacrifice for him even as he has sacrificed for others all the best of his earthly years.    (’01 28:29)
Just who are “aged reformers”? Are they not Christian Scientists who have actively served the cause of Christian Science? Christian Science practitioners, teachers and nurses spring to mind, but there are many who have served their branch churches selflessly for many decades who are also reformers.

We have made available five en-suite rooms - separated from the nursing floor - for active “aged reformers” who are members of The Mother Church wishing to live in a unique environment whose primary purpose is to facilitate the healing practice of Christian Science.

The weekly charge includes all meals, refreshments, laundry service, and assistance with dressing, bathing, and personal care. TV points and wireless internet facilities are also included. It is hoped residents will be involved in the activities, and the Activities Co-ordinator may be asked to assist with visits to the shops.

Any Christian Science nursing care needed will be charged separately.
