Christian Science Visiting Nurse Service, London Field (CSVNS)

Purpose of the CSVNS
To provide Christian Science nursing care in the home to those electing to rely on the method of spiritual healing, Christian Science, as taught and explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy. The mandate for the Christian Science Nurse is set out in Article VIII, Section 31 of the Manual of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, the governing document of the Church.

Eligibility

The Service will only provide a Christian Science Nurse if a Journal-listed Christian Science Practitioner is giving Christian Science treatment. (It is the responsibility of the patient to engage the Practitioner of their own choosing.)
The Visiting Nurse Service is funded by the Visiting Nurse Service for Christian Scientists, London Field, and operated by Hawthorne Trust Ltd.
Christian Science nursing care will be given by Christian Science nurses listed in The Christian Science Journal, or trainee Christian Science nurses under the direct supervision of a Journal-listed Christian Science nurse. Patients’ permission will be sought before involving students in their care.

Patients may cancel their engagement of a Christian Science nurse from the Service at any time. The Christian Science Nurse will withdraw from the case if it is found that the patient is mixing or allowing the intrusion of medical treatment of any kind, or if “proper care” can no longer be provided in the home situation
